General Information
COVID. For COVID related information, please visit the COVID Information page of our website.
Getting Around. Uber is the best and safest option for getting around. Always verify the license plate and driver’s name before getting in the car (rather than you providing your name first).
Avoiding the “Mexico Bug”. Try your best to avoid drinking tap water. It is highly unusual for a restaurant to serve tap water. To be safe though, always ask for bottled water or “agua de garrafon”. Agua de garrafon is filtered water that is free. Don’t be afraid to have drinks with ice, all restaurants serve ice from agua de garrafon, not tap water.
Doctor. Almost all pharmacies in Mexico have an onsite doctor that can provide you with a courtesy consultation and prescribe you medicine. If you are staying at the Hyatt Andares your nearest pharmacy with a doctor is Farmacia Guadalajara located in the basement level of the Andares shopping center (right next to the Hyatt).
If you do end up needing a doctor please do not hesitate to contact us at (206) 708-9593.
Dollars vs Pesos. Almost everywhere in Mexico accepts all major cards so it’s not necessary to exchange large amounts of dollars to pesos. When paying with a card the exchange rate is the one set by your bank. Additionally, when you pay with your card always ask for “la terminal” (the card terminal) so they will bring the card terminal to your table. If you would like to carry pesos we recommend withdrawing cash from bank atms (i.e. HSBC, Bancomer, Santander) whose exchange rate also matches the daily exchange rate. It is best to avoid the exchange houses at the airport and general ATMs (i.e. not bank one). Bank ATMs are located throughout Andares and there is also one in the Hyatt lobby.
